A four-day intensive Moodle training session was successfully conducted for dedicated Subject Advisors, Assessment Officials, E-Learning Officials, and Teacher Development Officials. The training aimed to strengthen digital teaching and learning capacity across districts by equipping participants with the technical and practical skills to effectively implement Moodle - a powerful, offline-capable Learning Management System (LMS).

Moodle stands out for its ability to support teaching and learning without the need for constant internet access, making it an ideal tool for districts with limited connectivity. This training focused on helping education officials harness the platform’s full potential to support digital learning initiatives at scale.

Throughout the training, participants engaged in a hands-on learning experience that covered several critical areas. They began by learning how to install Moodle software, following a step-by-step process to set up the platform on local servers to ensure accessibility even in offline environments. The training also explored essential aspects of PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor), including key settings such as file size limits, script execution time, and spreadsheet uploads—technical elements that are vital for optimal Moodle performance.

In addition, participants received guidance on installing and configuring plugins to extend Moodle’s core functionalities and improve the user experience. They also practiced course and category management by creating course categories and adding new courses tailored to district learning needs. The training concluded with a focus on assessment design, where participants created digital assessments within Moodle to track learner progress and engagement effectively.

This capacity-building initiative not only boosted the digital literacy of participating education officials but also laid a strong foundation for sustainable e-learning practices across the system. Participants expressed confidence in applying their new skills to support educators and enhance learner outcomes in their respective districts.

As the education department continues to embrace digital transformation, initiatives like this Moodle training are essential to ensuring that all learners, regardless of location or connectivity, have access to high-quality, digitally supported education.
