Advancements in technology have transformed the speed at which information, ideas, and services are shared. Therefore, educators need to be equipped with the latest and most advanced ICT systems. Their role in shaping the future of the nation involves equipping learners with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary for meaningful participation in society and the economy.
As an institute dedicated to improving the quality of education in South Africa, The Matthew Goniwe School of Leadership and Governance (MGSLG) continues to ensure that educators are familiar with and equipped to utilize advanced systems designed to enhance and simplify their work in schools.
On February 6, 2026, assessment coordinators (educators) were trained across various venues in Gauteng on the Assessment: Learner Performance Data Management Analysis Programme. This programme is crucial for improving education in the country, as it equips educators and administrators with the skills to effectively collect, manage, interpret, and utilize learner performance data to enhance teaching and learning. When educators understand how to analyse assessment data, they can identify learning gaps early, accurately track learner progress, and design targeted interventions to support struggling learners while challenging high achievers.
Ms. Eva Mokhosi, Facilitator, briefly explained the purpose of the training: “We want educators to be independent so they can input their own data for each subject into the platform. This will reduce reliance on school administrators to enter data, leading to greater efficiency and accuracy.”
This training promotes evidence-based decision-making, enabling schools to plan strategically, improve curriculum delivery, and enhance accountability. Ultimately, well-trained educators use data not just for compliance but as a powerful tool to improve learner outcomes, strengthen classroom practices, and elevate overall school performance.
